About me, Mark McHugh:  A graduate of University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications ’90 (Bachelor of Science). One year in broadcast news as an editorial assistant for Cable News Network (CNN), and a decade writing full-time and freelance for several domestic and international  news outlets.

My political interest comes from living in Washington, D.C, for 16 years, where I’ve field produced and research-reported for two presidential elections.

The interest in science and medicine? A hangover from the family. A couple of dentists and doctors  (for both man and beast alike!) dot the family landscape.

Please note: if I post something prefaced by the words “Notes,” it’s a first-person narrative. If “Feature Story”  introduces the piece, it means I researched and reported it.
